EXILES IN PARADISE

Isotopia Moon is proud to announce two inaugural productions!
EXILES IN PARADISE will open the Rochester Fringe Festival
in the beautiful 300 seat JCC/Hart Theater on Sept. 11th 2024
EXILES spans the lives of Europe's composers and artists that fled for Los Angeles from the rise of the Nazi party and the Entarte Kunst Movement, the war, the holocaust, their exile and influence in Hollywood, to the final chapter of those emigres who were brought to trial in America during the McCarthy Era.
Part documentary film, performance piece and vocal recital, the music and lives of this explosive period in history are brought to life by original stop quick animation shorts by film maker Louis Klahr, film collages by Richard Baim, rare home movies and studio clips enhancing the songs and arias of Hollander, Korngold, Zeisl, Toch, Weill, Eisler, Jurmann and Kalman and many more.
EXILES in PARADISE was created, written and is performed by Isotopia Moon's founder, Constance Hauman
“Constance Hauman, a lustrous coloratura soprano of wide-ranging tastes and versatility, made headlines on music pages all over Europe as the waif/sex-goddess in Alban Berg’s Lulu. Her gleaming soprano can be heard on a live recording on the Chandos label; but meanwhile her performance piece Exiles in Paradise, backed up by research worthy of a Ph.D. is tossed off with the pizzaz of a diva. And damned if Ms. Hauman doesn’t lead with ‘Falling in Love Again’ caressing Friedrich Hollander’s tune with a sensuality of phrase and brilliance of tone that owes not a lick to Marlene.” — The Wall Street Journal
EXILES IN PARADISE was first debuted at the 92nd Y and was chosen for the opening of the Liebeskind Jewish Museum in Berlin on Sept. 10th 2001, followed by The Austrian Embassy in Washington DC, an 8 week run at Garry Marshall's theater ,The Falcon, in Burbank CA. and with the North Carolina Philharmonic in Pinehurst NC.
From Constance
"We need your support, sponsorship and donations for this incredible opportunity to showcase and develop further performances for Exiles in Paradise, during this disturbing and crucial time where understanding history and the prescient impact it has on all of us, is being challenged , derided and tossed aside.
EXILES is a valuable teaching tool that needs further funding and support to expand the vision
